I was there - and what a fantastic concert!

U2 had been onstage about 40 minutes or so before the broadcast started - songs missed by the radio were (IIRC) Vertigo*, I Will Follow, The Electric Co., Elevation, New Year's Day, Beautiful Day, I Still Haven't Found... and most of All I Want Is You. I've read elsewhere that the radio sound wasn't all that great...

* They opened and closed with Vertigo.

Listening to it now on MP3 (recorded via radio 2 last night)
Sound did fade in and out a wee bit over the night but not enough to spoil things. The band sounded in fine form (and yes, the Beeb did miss the first 8 songs...)
Going to see them in Glasgow on Tuesday and then Dublin on Saturday
Cant wait...

Oh, did anybody see Jools Holland on Friday?
Antony and the Johnsons??? Have you ever heard such an amazing voice!
The Magic Numbers were great too

I'm so glad you said it as if I didn't like U2 I would have said they were S*** live as the R2 feed and mixing was crap. It really was that bad.

Tomorrow seeing two friends, Ian and June, just in case there reading. They went last night and tonight, and although they will be biased, they have seen U2 a lot over the last 20 years both here and abroard, they will listen to my MD of it and hopefully give me an honext opinion. I've never seen U2 but I don't think they got this big sounding that bad.

I guess with any live event, it's actually being there that counts.
I still don't think that the Radio 2 broadcast was all that terrible (recorded via SKY digital)
I listened to the original broadcast last night and then again as an MP3 this afternoon.
Some tracks sounded fantastic, The Fly and a great acoustic version of Yahweh were particular faves.
I will admit though, that some of the other tracks did sound a wee bit rough
(not too sure if that's the fault of the broadcast or the band themselves - i'm sure i did detect a bum note or two...)
Anyway, i'll find out myself in a couple of days if it was worth the wait!
