Seems like a good representation of bands to me apart from number 9 which is one of the worst songs I've ever heard!

Fairly broad definition of "punk".
In fact the DJ (Mike Davies) refused to play The Prodigy, substituting The Exploited (Punk's Not Dead).
No Fall, early Stranglers, Ruts, X-Ray Spex, Banshees...
Mind you, only 30 tracks so there's bound to be some notable omissions.

I wouldn't class Prodigy as punk either and I would have thought that at least one Stranglers track would have got there (Peaches maybe?) and I'd have had more than the one SLF track. If they are going to have such a wide scope for Punk, then I might also be tempted to include The Jam in there as well.

That's a crap list IMHO. I'm 46 and a lot of my friends between 1976-80 who were into punk at that time wouldn't even give half of those bands the time of day, and the Stranglers were hated by punks and other bands at the time, or have some of you oldies forgot that? Dementia setting in

No, I always loved the Stranglers and I was fully into the punk scene, but I do remember that some of the "sheep" followed the others and hated them

I think a top-30 list of bands would provide a better representation. Whether they're considered "punk" or not the lack of The Stranglers is criminal as they were undoubtedly part of one of the relevant new-waves.

Green Day are a band I've never really heard much of, so I had another listen to the top end of the program. That Basketcase has been bugging me all morning - it reminds me of something. I finally tracked it down. It's Can't Stop The World by the GoGos. Just the opening couple of lines. Anyone else see the similarity or is it more dementia?

No mate I always treated punk the way I thought it was meant to be - that is you listen to whatever you want and nobody is going to tell you not to listen to it, then you got some of the punk movement saying that they hated the Stranglers and you shouldn't listen to them, that sort of went against the whole punk thing for me.

I loved the Ramones, Pistols, SLF, CR but never liked Peaches and still hate Golden Brown.

I don't listen to R1 but White Riot, P Vacant or I wanna be sedated would propably have got my vote.

How I've changed. I'll give anything a listen now.

Punk was about attitude and change, but did it achieve anything?
