As title.

I hope they can work together again. Mason appeared on stage not that long ago with Waters, so something may be in the air.

This news is just bloody astonishing. I am so delighted.

I like most of the bands on the bill for Live 8, but the news today prompted me to enter the ticket lottery with £30 worth of text messages.. Even if I dont get any tickets its for a good cause and I'll record the gig onto DVD!

......mother do you think they will drop the bomb....

That's was Walter's Flickering Flame concert at Wembley Arena - I, like everyone else there was "plesantly surprised" when Mason came on to drum - seeing him perform the off-signature percussion from "Time" live was just amazing - Live 8 is going to be fantastic!

Lets see, with each band having around 20 mins to play, we can expect about one and a half songs from the Floyd

Best news in the music biz for years.

Never thought that would happen, its amazing how charity events can bring people together. Although it'll be a one-off performance its still great for the fans.

It will be good to see Gilmour back playing what he is so renound for, rather than strumming rock n roll numbers for Paul Mcartney. Using a Ferrari to drive to the shop springs to mind

Bring it on

Its not the concert its self that excites me as huwg says 20mins, however what might come out of this little get together, I would hope there might be a mending of the ways.

This is the irony for me.

Last Sunday was the annoucement of the Floyd getting back together, and it was last sunday which was the four year anniversary of my first gig... The Eagles at Earls Court

Great, great concert.

Its great that roger waters and dave gilmour have made up after all these years, its a shame that syd barrett the founder member of pink floyd can't join them his mind messed because of lsd abuse.
i am lucky to have meet dave gilmour and had lunch with him, on my 50th birthday as a present he gave me tickets at there very last concert at wembley a few years ago. the concert was great as was the music so those of you going to live 8 are in for a treat.
i have heard that they are going to do tracks from dark side of the moon. i am one of the lucky few to have known him, you never know they might get back together to do another album. we have already had one miracle roger and dave making it up after 20 yrs!

That's strange,my kids always knew it as 'the dong song' ,for obvious reasons, and loved it from a very early age. They were always asking us to play it,along with 'in the hall of the mountain king'

If they get 30 mins I'd like;

Shine on you crazy diamond (Everyone should recognise it, fans or not)
Money (for obvious reasons)
WYWH
Coimfortably Numb (for fans)

Or sub any one for my fav Us and Them.

All IMO but it'll be great to see them again. 50/50 yes would like a new album, no leave things be.

I think it's just a shame that Steve O'Rourke is no longer with us to see them reunite.

If Pinkfloyd did get back together what will happen to Doyle Bramhall II, he will have to stick with Eric and what about poor old Snowy.

That won't be a problem as Snowy White has been playing with Pink Floyd on their live shows since the 70's and was also playing with Roger on his last world tour.

The keyboard player has played with floyd and waters. As far as an album goes, I could forsee difficulties. The two parts (PF and RW) moving in different directions. Roger mainly sticking with the Wall type songs while PF tending to head in a slightly more commercial sounding direction. To try and marry these two styles may prove hard. I for one would love to hear it, and the thought of seeing the original floyd doing a full scale concert is very exciting. I have not got tickets to live8, (I am working with a band on that night anyway) if you have got them, I hope that you enjoy what promises to be one hell of a gig. If they ever do reform, you will be able to say that you were at the gig that made it happen.
Favourite track? From the first time I heard it, it has always been "The great gig in the sky". It has everything you could wish for in a track. Almost classical beginning, that moment when everything comes in at once, and the vocal that has so much emotion in it. The live versions are just as good. And the bonus is, you dont have to try and remember any words to sing along! Magic.

I guess they'll be doing the popular ones, as has been been said, Comfortably numb, another brick in the wall etc, although Gilmour is not fond of the wall stuff.

It would be great to see him & Roger doing the dual vocals of run like hell. It would seem like a real coming together of the two camps after all the bitterness of the last 20 years.

Heres hoping.

This is great news for fans.
In a way this is like a belated Live Aid appearence in '85. Though Gilmour was there playing with Bryan Ferry I wonder if Waters would have been happy to have played there? After all the Live Aid event was part of his Radio KAOS concept.
Anyway, I shall be watching! If anyone can do a DVD recording of the show I'd pay good money for it!!

In the Sunday Times, Geldof was overheard by a journo in a restaurant to say they were playing :-
Breathe
Comfortably Numb
Wish You were Here

If this is true I'd think YYWH would be in the middle of the set with comfortably numb to finish.
These make sense as they are relatively simple songs (as opposed to Money which requires lots of backup people playing saxaphone etc)
