music that makes you cry?

What music have you been so moved by thats its made you cry?

(so how many men will admit to that?)

The first time i heard the following songs i was moved to tears:

Londons Calling - The Clash
Time/Great Gig In The Sky - Pink Floyd
The entire HATS album by The Blue Nile (still makes me well up now and i've played it twice a week for 15 years )
Sugar - Tori Amos
The Scientist (live) - from Coldplay 2003
I Cant Make You Love Me - George Michael (for reasons i wont go into )

I have a pretty rare CD containing the soundtrack from the film Steel Magnolias.
I'm not a fan of the film, but the CD is the most moving and endlessly listenable peice I have ever listened to.

Whenever I've played it to anyone, the room goes silent... and at the end there's a collective sigh and an emotional silence. The effect it has on you is quite weird, and I havn't brought myself to listen to it for while.

Watched James Blunt play 'Goodbye my lover' on Later with Jools Holland, and that brought a tear to my eye. Great song, and album it comes from.

A Case of You - Joni Mitchell ( from Blue ) Caused spontaneous blubbing on first hearing. One of the most honest songs I've ever heard.

In My Life - The Beatles, Lennon had just been murdered and I was drunk and maudling - remembering all the happy times spent listening to them - heard this song and floodgates opened.

Either of these songs can still set me of, if caught unawares and feeling down.

Old Shep - Elvis Presley made me cry when I was a bairn, though I doubt it would now. Still I daresay I would be best to avoid this song at the death of one of my dogs

Something I can Never Have - Nine Inch Nails

There are loads of songs that I find very moving but this one always strikes a chord for me because of what was (and still is) happening in my life the first time I heard it. It always brings tears to my eyes.

Actually when I think about it, the score to the Seven Wonders of the Industrial World was pretty emotional although I think in part that was because it was normally accompanied on screen by the sort of sacrifice that makes you realise that you are in fact a coward of epic proportions. The program on the london Sewer system with Humphrey Basiljet had a superb piece at the end with the music when it made it clear the man basically built large parts of modern London.
