Coldplay X&Y

Anybody listened to the new album yet? Was listening to the CD in the car this morning and it sounded like it was distorting in quite a few places. Track 6 has an instance of this near the beginning.. Wondering if i've got a crap copy.

My copy is fine, but what an awesome album, i think i might be listening to it for along time to come. I think the forthcoming single 'Fix You' is one of the best songs i have ever heard.

My copy is fine, but IMO the albums very disapointing even after several plays, and I'm not the only one.

Disapointing new albums

Awesome, IMHO. Really very good indeed. Have been fortunate enough to have been listening to it for a little while now and think it is really something special.

I second that. 'X&Y' is shocking and depressing. 'A Rush of Blood...' had a directness and purity to it which made it far more enjoyable. This record is over-polished, fussy, just plain soulless. It's not helped with the fact that there's been four or five copycat Coldplays since Rush of Blood, making X&Y sound even more bland. It also sounds uncannily like U2 in parts, which is unforgivable. Mega-popular bands just don't take creative risk anymore. Haven't Coldplay worked out that they could release 'Three Blind Mice' on the kazoo and it would sell a million? Why not exploit that great position and challenge themselves and the listener?

Those interesting EMI profit warning stories over the delay of X&Y hide a darker truth. Listening to it, there's marketing all over it, making sure it appeals to the widest possible audience, and thereby insulting human intelligence. Downloading isnt killing music, marketing is.

Now....back to 'Demon Days'. What a fantastic record.

Endemic of bands who grow to be that big. Like Oasis and the Stereophoneys, they have nothing to write about anymore and therefore they lose the edge...imo!

Wasn't Chris Martin saying something about finishing of U2 as the biggest band in the world just recently?

I think X&Y has progressed from Parachutes and ROBTTH. IMHO it has everything you could want in an album. I actually got hold of the new Oasis album at the same time and however much i try to listen to it i just stop and play X&Y instead. I'm sure the new Oasis album is being covered in another thread so i won't mention it further. As musicians you can tell that they have put alot of effort in, from the quality of drumming through to the vocal range. If Coldplay wanted to rely purely on marketing they would have just put out a sub standard album and IMO it is not.

I think they've struggled with this album, some of the lyrics are awful, their first album is best followed by ROBTTH then this

Octavarium arrived yesterday (Dream Theaters newie, yes I know the two are totally different) I am already playing it endlessly, Y&T on the other hand just leaves me cold after about 8-9 plays. I really have tried with it, but now I doubt it'll get any more chances

I'm listening to it right now, loved the first 5 tracks, Fix You is superb, but the second half of the album is not doing it for me right now.............but as I'm typing this.........hmmmmmm, what's this......Swallowed in the sea............nice intro.....nice vocals..................niiiiice..............ok.. . I take it back, I'm loving it again.

I think A Message and Low are weak tracks though........but wow.....I'm loving Swallowed in the sea!! Real time thoughts on a first listen................. will wait for the next track before hitting submit.......

Swallowed In The Sea, one of the best tracks on the album imho.

Twisted Logic...not bad........but not as good as the prior track.

Hmmm, ok, not as good as Parachutes perhaps, but some tracks have pure class. And personally, I like the polish.

Can someone link me to Demon Day please
