Disapointing new albums

Bought Audioslaves Out of Exile and have played it three times over the weekend and have to say I'm disappointed. Maybe because I was expecting too much after their brilliant debut.

What other new albums has anyone bought lately and been let down by?

I was not very impressed when I first heard Out Of Exile. Although I did not think the first one was that good, it contained some great tunes (mainly the first half of the album) and I was hoping for a real progression with the new one. The more I listen to it, the more I enjoy it. They sound more tight as a unit, though I think some of Morello's solos ruin a couple of songs, but overall it has more of a Chris Cornell influence to the whole thing, and contains a number of superb cuts (Your Time Has Come, Be Yourself, Doesn't Remind Me, Dandelion). It's growing on me, and albums that do that tend to have good lasting power

Agreed !!!!!The production is total crap- no dynamism no bass no nothing -I sold my copy for 99p at a car boot sale.

other disappointing albums must include Mobys Hotel. I like Moby but I just cannot get into this album at all.

I agree on the new Audioslave album I have played it 3 times and like it a lot.As for the Velvet revolver album well I cannot agree -its so poor --the sound is tenth rate G N Roses and it sounds so out of date. Slash must do something more meaningful with his time because this band will split up soon as they offer nothing new or original to the rock world.

Audioslave's new one is getting there...different to their first album and definitely has more Chris Cornell influence than Rage against the Machine. Could have done with a few bigger riffs! But..it would have been easy to knock out something similar to the first album, hats off to them for trying to be a little different. Its growing on me.

Was a bit let down by the latest Daft Punk album Human After All. Not a bad album as such but not a leap forward either.

O.k. I've given it the benefit of time and yesteday left Out Of Exile going for a couple of spins while doing other things and it is getting better I must agree.

Then I played Superunknown, still sounds amazing.

I personally found 'Out of Exile' to be absolute pish.

Nothing on the album to match the quality of 'Shadow of the Sun', 'Cochise' etc.

I agree, the new Audioslave album is a bit of a let down.. it only takes me one listen to know if a new album is great, and this one wasnt nearly as good as their debut.

Same goes for the new Coldplay, Feeder and U2 albums. Big letdowns, all of them (perhaps thats a bit harsh on Feeder though), and Im undecided on Velvet Revolver.

However, for all those disappointments, Green Day's American Idiot is simply awesome.

My copy of Octavarium has just been despatched from CDWOW. Will it be a corker or not?

Out of Exile now been played quite a lot, but I'm still disappointed.

"By the Way" was a total disappointment to me - musically brilliant but none of the zest and rawness that made all the albums up to BSSM so wonderful. I think they grew up too much.
