Favourite Smiths album: Hatful of Hollow. I know strictly speaking it's a compilation but it has so many great songs. Their first album is also a classic.

I think their albums generally follow a downward slope in terms of quality. The queen is dead doesn't match up to their earlier stuff IMHO, and the less said about Strangeways the better
