Thanks: Gave 1, Got 5 | Copy Protected CDs That Don't Work On PCs
Hi
Does anyone what the current regs are for the above.
I got the genesis plat collection today and trying to play it on my dvd drive is a no go. There are labels or text on the cd to state this. From what I remember reading before is that they had to tell you that it won't work on certain drives on the box. Also does that not make it a normal cd as well?
I hate the record companys forcing us to do things their way, so now in order to listen to MY cd I have to copy it via a digital cable onto my pc and burn a disc. That was really hard to work out and bypassed all their copy protection so was it really worth it?
If anyone has any info/views please post.
Merry Christmas.

If you are running win98 or winME, you can used the cracked version of CDFS.VXD
that pretty much bypasses all audio protection forever (not any good for XP though)
and did you try holding the "shift" key down when inserting the CD?

Umm I'd take them back as unplayable about 20 times, rip them then demand money back for faulty goods

Demand your money back - you havent purchased a Cd - you brought some 'dodgy fake Cd' as the copy protection on these 'cds' brakes the Cd format rules - its not to cd format standards so cant be a proper cd.

That is right. Copy it if you can (they deserve to be ripped if they intentially **** off actual purchasing customers (as thats why you are, u did by the disc)) and return it for a refund. Faulty product.

How to play a copy protected CD on the HC system.
Put in PC DVD-R/RW drive
Hold down shift when closing it
Rip using Creative stuff
Burn to CD using Creative stuff
Play in DVD player

| I have this CD as well but experience no problems playing it in my PC or any other player. AFAIK, there is no copy protection on it. If it helps, I bought my copy from MVC. Catalogue no. is 7243 8 63730 2 1 and label states Made in the EU.

Thanks: Gave 1, Got 5 | thanks for all the advice
Hi everyone
I tried the shift key but it still spins for a while and then the drive says it is a new blank disk. A friend of mine had this with doom3 that wouldn't install properly when clone cd was installed but I have never seen an audio cd do this before.
I will keep trying to figure it out but hopefully later I will reconnect my kit and make a fresh digital copy.
Thanks again

Hi all,
I'm having a problem with a the new beastie boys CD I got for Christmas. It will play fine using there default software but when I try to play it using windows media player the sound glitches every 5 to 10 seconds. Is there a way of bypassing the cd copy protection so that I can rip it to my mp3 player?
Thanks,
