Music to get dumped by...

Whilst reading about Mr Cat's unfortunate break-up (chin up buddy) it got me thinking that when you get dumped (and we all have been at some stage) there is always one song that seems to have been written just for you.

Mine was "Better Off Alone" by Alice Deejay...I hate that song...every time she sang the chorus..."Do you think youuu're beetter off alooone?" I would scream "NO!!!!" at the stereo and turn it off whilst rolling around on the floor grief stricken...

So what's your song chaps???

im just getting over a break up so every song has a new meaning but the songs that remind me of how much life can suck are:

Leaving New York (REM)
Make It All Ok (REM)
Falling Down (Staind)

its wierd how some songs have a different meaning after something happens.

Don't forget Oasis - Married with Children.

There’s no need for you to say you’re sorry
Goodbye I’m going home
I don’t care no more so don’t you worry
Goodbye I’m going home

I hate the way that even though you
Know you’re wrong you say you’re right
I hate the books you read and all your friends
Your music’s ****e it keeps me up all night

There’s no need for you to say you’re sorry
Goodbye I’m going home
I don’t care no more so don’t you worry
Goodbye I’m going home

I hate the way that you are so sarcastic
And you’re not very bright
You think that everything you’ve done’s fantastic

Your music’s ****e it keeps me up all night

And it will be nice to be alone
For a week or two
But I know that I will be
Right back here with you

There’s no need for you to say you’re sorry
Goodbye I’m going home
I don’t care no more so don’t you worry
Goodbye I’m going home

I hate the way that even though you
Know you’re wrong you say you’re right
I hate the books you read and all your friends
Your music’s ****e it keeps me up all night

Says it all.

There's a Rage Against The Machine song that springs to mind - something along the lines of ".... you I won't do what you tell me".

Very cathartic!

Something I can never have and Hurt by Nine Inch Nails

broke up for the final time (that's a total of 4 times now) 4 months ago after 15 years together.

Why is it that even though a particular track can make you weep like a girl every time you hear it... you always seem to put it on constant replay?

At least it was Nine Inch Nails rather than doing a Lofty and spinning Every loser wins by old Nick Berry though (that one'll probably be lost on the nippers ), I reckon that would have had me opening a vein. Mostly through embarassment

The ultimate wrist slitter for the dumped is Frank Sinatra's "Only the Lonely". After his marriage to Ava Gardner ended the singer was inconsolable and went into the studio and basically spilled his guts onto vinyl.

This is probably the bleakest (and some would say the best) album of his career, with tangible emotion in Frankie's every word and bleak arrangements to match. Truly "soul" music in the fullest sense of the word.

No wonder it became quickly dubbed "Songs for Swingin' Suicides" at the time of release.

Play this after a split up and you'll know what empty is!

A classic splitting up song from Half Man Half Biscuit

we sat and decided as the seasons collided
that our love was fairly utopian
if it wasn’t for my pills, my psychiatric bills
and your unreliable fallopian
then I guess wed be fine
embraced on cloud 9
emotionally impossible to sever
you turn around quickly and ever so sickly
I'd tell you I love you forever

If only you’d give me my Lev Yashin poster back
six months ago I returned your brown anorak
but you keep forgetting
and its far too upsetting
so baby Ferenc Puskas to you, to you
Baby Ferenc Puskas to you

You know it’s a shame
but we’re never the same
on account of your stupid amnesia
through teardrops I stare
at the wall it’s now bare
and I reach for the milk of magnesia
and I’ll die on the floor
and leave a note on the door
saying 'this ape has just left Gibraltar'
and in hell it will rain
and I’ll say once again
that I’d stand next to you at the altar

If only you’d give me my Lev Yashin poster back
six months ago I returned your brown anorak
but you keep forgetting
and it’s far too upsetting
so baby Ferenc Puskas to you, to you
Baby Ferenc Puskas to you
with boots on
