Porcupine Tree - Deadwing - coming soon... !!

New Porcupine Tree album 'Deadwing' is due for release on 21st March 2005.

Anyone with a DVD-Audio player should by now have and be thoroughly awestruck with their last album 'In Absentia' which was mixed into 5.1, DTS etc.

Well...you'll be pleased to know that 'Deadwing' has been mixed into 5.1 already, so we can look forward to a joint stereo and surround-sound release in March.

deadwing.com has just appeared and will continue to be updated with more sounds and images in the coming months.

I can't wait for this album

I wonder if it will be released on dual-disc rather than seperate cd and dvd-audio discs.

That's an interesting question, and something I had wondered myself.

Apparently...other than the problems with thickness of the discs and them not playing in certain players (which may put people off), there have been problems with DualDisc getting into the UK market because DVD+ discs have their foot in the door over here (the Kasabian album was released on that format in limited numbers).

I think it would be safer if they released 2 separate versions (stereo CD and DVD-Audio) as they did last time, but they may choose to do a Limited Edition release on the DualDisc/DVD+ format.

Guess we'll have to wait and see

Or they could do the same as Jean Michel Jarre did with Aero but with a cd
and dvd-audio disc rather than a dvd-video disc. You could get Aero for £8.99
so I don't think a two disc package would cost that much more than a
regular cd.

True, but they'd have to do a better job than the record company did of advertising it because there was mass confusion about what the bonus disc was. E-tailers were listing it as a DVD-Audio, an Audio DVD, all sorts of weirdness was going on and I still don't know if a dedicated DVD-Audio version was ever released!!??

I'll keep an eye on the PT situation though and let people know as soon as I hear anything about formats nearer the time. It is still 4 months away after all
