'well produced' dance music???

Evening all!

I am a fan of most music types, dance, house, trance, pop, hip-hop, r&b etc..
Since I got into decent hifi I have realised how poorly produced dance music is (on the whole).

I have just been listening to Jean Michel Jarre's new album Aero, which comes with a DVD for surround listening, and I was blown away with the quality (especially in DTS). Great stuff. I just wish all dance music was produced this well! Now, I know there are so many dance music fans out there who don't give a damn how well it's produced, and only care about how loud there boombox goes without blowing up - but there must be plenty of people who love dance music but also want the quality with it!

The only two artists I can think of that produce good quality dance music are JMJ and Paul Oakenfold (some albums of which are ok).

The trouble is, when you start getting into this hifi lark, your good quality kit just shows up every little imperfection.

Can ANYBODY recommend any dance/house/trance music that's good quality??

Cheers!

Later Groove Armada (sacd too!)
Paul van Dyke
Roger Sanchez
Moloko (also sacd)
Most Hed Kandi
Later Basement Jaxx

OK so most of the above are a bit "mainstream", but they seem to take a bit more care in mixing & mastering than most other dance artists & lables (most dance acts seem to have zero studio budget ).

I think a lot of the problem is to do with the way the music is sampled. The use of intentionally rough-sounding analogue samples is annoying, and sometimes jarring on a good hi-fi. Low budget dance & hip hop sounds flippin awful. One that sticks in the mind is 3 feet high & rising - sounds like it was mastered on a bombed-out four track

Can't think of any "audiophile" trance music - don't think you'll find any, either
