Covers that are better than the Original.

Dunno know if this has been done before but what covers in your opinion have you heard of songs that you think are better than the Original. I will start it off by saying I think Hurts By Johnny Cash is better than the Original version by Trent Reznor.

I'd say that Mark Ronson's Amy Winehouse vocal'd "Valerie" is better than the Zutons version...

Arghh, hate that song but be to be fair Mark Ronson did effectively polish a turd to great effect.

My fave of the moment is Linkin Parks cover of Adele's Rolling in the deep

If your familiar with Linkin Parks sound this stripped back version took me by suprise at the iTunes festival. I love the original version but this for me , a Linkin park fan,is awesome

Also not sure about the wonderwall cover

Though it's the opposite of what the thread is about, I'll tell you a cover I hate

Futureheads - Hounds of Love, dire, in fact I heard them cover Accapella by Kelis on the radio & that was pretty hideous

Sinead O'Connor doing Nothing Compares 2 U, obviously.

It's the only Prince song I can think of that has been done better by someone else.

have you heard the original version by the family? it's miles better. what's strange is the released version has no drums, and an unreleased version has drums similar to sineads, which added soul 2 soul type beats

prince wiped his vocals from the mastertape to let paul peterson put his lead vocals down, so that's the only song from the album where prince's original versions aren't circulating. there's just live versions with prince singing, and even the worst is better than sineads

the stereophonics did a good acoustic version of it, in fact it's excellent
