If you really must

Travis, Elbow, Doves, Snow Patrol............maybe Grandaddy, Flaming Lips and Radiohead.

RHCP.............get Blood Sex Sugar Magik (or is that Blood Sugar........anyway) If you like that better than the later Chillis pop stuff then your ready to move into a different area.

you could try the new Supergrass best of (think it's called 'Supergrass is 10')
not got it myself, but friends who like the bands you've mentioned say it is great.

Have only heard bits and pieces, and have liked a fair bit of it.
They have been compared to radiohead but are much heavier, and it is justifiable to a certain degree. They have their own, very dramatic and almost operatic sound.
Origin of Symmetry is supposed to be rather good.

I thought their last single ('sing for absolution' I think) was a cracker, good video too.
I'm sure there's other people who an give you a better view of them than me.

They are certainly worth checking out.
