audio cd onto dvd-r

Can someone tell me how i can put normal cd`s onto a dvd-r on my pc.
Has i have tried and got 5 of my most used cd burnned on a dvd-r and my dvd player can`t read it.
I have nero6 and put the music has a data disc as nero only burn music as mp3,wma or their version of mp3.
Has anyone done this .
my dvd player is a tosiba 220e and i can`t find anything about doing this.
The idea of 4 or 5 albums on one dvd would save my good ones from getting ruined.
