I Love LINKIN PARK

They make good music unlike Ghetto People(50 cent, Ja Rule, D12)

Oddly enough, I'd actually group all 4 of those performers into groups that don't make good music. Each to their own though.

Only heard their singles.
at first I thought 'these sound different, the singer has a good aggressive voice'

I now think that they are one trick ponies, all their singles sound very samey (with exception of breaking the habit), they are predictable - you know he is going to go into 'angry shouting mode', the only question is when.

Mind you though, predictability isn't always a bad thing - I love Bad Religion

I love Linkin Park but I found that they are one of those bands that you can listen to for short periods of time, but very loud. If you listen for too long the album merges into one, but that could be good mixing of the album.

LP are one of the best hard rock/metal bands around at the moment. I have been listening to their albums for months now and haven't got bored of them. They are even better live.

They're ok. Can be a bit samey, but hey, compared with Rap & Dance they're on Frank Zappas wavelength! Besides the wife and the kids all love em', so I've got no choice but to listen to em'.

Girlfriend is a huuuuuge fan but I cannot get that excited about them. I'm not a huge fan of angsty music but then she didn't like ZZ Top's Tres Hombres that I was singing along to in the bath last night so that is the richness of human choice for you .

I couldn't help but notice that the people on here saying they are awesome are both 17. That typifies Linkin Park for me. I used to love Korn, System Of A Down and all that stuff when I was that age too.

Very much a teenage thing.

Great album!!! The kids roared the other day when I was wailing along to Led Zeps "Nobodys fault but mine". It wasn't. They'll never let me forget it..............

As with me. I've grown onto bigger and better things (now a huge Clash fan) and am now listening to The Wildhearts.

TBH, I'm tempted to sell my nu-metal CDs because they really don't fit in with anything else in my rack.

The main thing I've noticed is not the "younger" people listen to things like Linkin Park which I don't mind (obviously I'm still young myself) but that they do bitch about other peoples tastes.

Getting used to them...my boy(16) likes them,so he treats us to them at times, but even he still prefers some of the older style heavyweights like Led Zep and Metallica for variety.

'Teen Metal' IMO...

They are actually decent live performers, but their material is just so samey..
If you put the CD on shuffle you wouldn't have a clue which track you were listening too..

I'll stick to my Pumpkins/Dream Theater/Tool/QOTSA etc when i need a metal fix...

'Smashing Pumpkins' are a vast ocean of creativity, coupled with the best songwriter of our generation compared to the tepid puddle of derivity that is 'Linkin' Park'

but have you got the 'special' version of rotten apples with the B-sides/unreleased stuff??

I just can't believe they were the songs that *didn't* make it onto the albums.. puts nearly every other songwriter (in the last ten years) to shame on that basis..

Pure class, simple as.

I like Linkin Park, Smashing Pumkins, Rage Against the Machine and a bit of Metallica!

Rage Against the Machine is my favourite followed by the Smashing Pumpkins.

Linkin Park may not be brilliant song writers but ths music is likeable.

I am not 17 either.

I don't like LP, same american that bores the comercial airwaves.

Me i prefer old rock classics, and bands like metallica, tool, RATM, senser and stuff like that.

But then there will always be bands that come & go like fads do, hot property one week, and "who are they" the following week.

I happen to like Linkin Park, not all of it, but that can be said for most bands.

One thing that really bugs me though, is people who are happy to diss music they once enjoyed during their youth! (or maybe when it was fashionable to do so)

Good music is good music, whether you happened to be 17 when you listened to it, or whether it was written 30 years ago.

Obviously we all change/conform eventually, but I reckon people who are truly into music just expand their horizons, whereas others jump from bandwagon to bandwagon!!

All IMHO of course!
