Saw them at the V Festival last year, and although not the best band of the weekend, they were very good.
I was gonna go and see them again this year but was put off from going by the crummy supporting acts, inflated prices and the likely hood of the view being pants.

Have seen them twice - once seven or eight years ago, when average age of audience was 30-40, and once last year when average age was about 18. They are a great band live, but like all old fogies I would rather see them do the old funky jammin stuff than the new melodic pop/rock. Get the Slane Castle DVD and see what I mean - Give It Away and Power of Equality blow the new stuff outta the water. Still, what do I know - they must be makin a mint with all these new fans!

ok guys
First things first. Mr Fusciante has cut his hair....while Mr Keidis has grown his again. The band looked great, so they haven't spent the last year eating pies and drinking beer!
There were no real surprises in the set list, mostly from the last 2 albums. They included two covers and a new song, brand new!
They played pretty upbeat, but don't most live?
However sometimes, i felt they were going through the motions a little.

I thought that too, saw them yesterday in Hyde Park. Very polished and professional, great light and graphics show too. James Brown just didn't do it for me though, and "Chicks on Speed" were hilariously bad...so much so that the lead singer complained about bottles being thrown at her and that the crowd "didn't deserve them"...muhahaha. I think she walked off-stage crying...

lol,a few of my mates went to Hyde park and said exactly the same about Chicks on speed, apparently the worst band they have ever seen live
I hope they dont play Cardiff as well You would think paying 40 quid for a ticket would guarentee you some quality performances but apparently it doesnt these days;ah well, probably best to stay at the bar till the Chillis get on stage I think |
