Are Chicane ever going to release a new CD?

It's been a while since anything came from Chicane, and I love their 2 albums, particularly the first one; for me, "Behind The Sun" is timeless: moody, atmospheric with some fantastic bass lines thrown into the mix "Far From The Maddening Crowd" is also great, though not a patch on the first one.

Does anyone know if Chicane are working on something new, and if anything is due out in the near future?

And in the meantime, can anyone suggest some other ambient dance acts which are in the same "vein" as Chicane?

Cheers
Matt

Hi,

Also being an avid Chicane fan, i cant help but want to crrect you. 'Far From The Maddening Crowds' was actually Nicks first album release in september 1997; he then later released 'Behind The Sun' in march 2000.

However many people arent aware that a 6 track mini-album called "Chilled" was released in between the 2, and this is a crying shame. It contains several class remix's and also the only release of 'Strong in Love' which is a qualiy track.

Also there is a new album, and i have it on my iPod with me right now (Advanced promo). It called 'Easy To Assemble' and was meant to be released back in 2003, however it hit major delays so now im not too sure when the release date is.

With that said i think the new album is actually better than BTS, but still not as good (for me) as FFTMC.

Anyway heres the track list to the new forthcoming album:

01. Love On The Run (Featuring Peter Cunnah of D*Ream)
02. Daylight
03. East Side Story (featuring Bryan Adams)
04. In Praise of The Sun (featuring Espiritu)
05. Locking Down
06. Spirit (featuring Jewel)
07. Arizona
08. Some Might Say
09. Kilometre
10. Something Wrong
11. Empires

Anyway send me an email if you want some further info (nudge nudge wink wink) and ill sort you out.

And while you wait patiently some CD's i recommend:

Hybrid - Wider Angle
Hybrid - Morning sci-fi (essential!)
UNKLE - Never never land

Chicanes remix of BT's "Flaming June" is a pretty cool tune

BT is just fine on its own without any remixes

I am looking forward to the new album, I'm still stuggling to locate a copy of the original. I refuse to import it from Australia which as far as I can see is the only place you can still buy it new.

ozzyo99: I wasn't aware of the mini-album, any suggestions where I can buy it cheaply? It seems to be a German import.

I gave Hybrid a go but wasn't impressed.

Underworld, Fluke, Orbital, Leftfield, Chemical Bros, Groove Armada...all have great stuff in a similar mould.

Older electronic stuff of a similar genre mould be Spooky, Gotan Project, The Grid, Kruder & Dorfmeister.

That should be enough recommendatoins for now.
