Have just got a new DVD Audio player. Can anyone recommend any good test discs and where to get them?

Play.com has Fleetwood Mac - Runours, and REM - Automatic for the People - 2 of my favourite DVD Audio discs.

Edit: DVD Pacific are cheaper than Play, but I've never used them.

I agree, REM Automatic really benefits from this format - superb!!! (don't rate REM Reveal, but neither did I the CD version). REM best of, some tracks v good. Yes Fragile, pretty good, Automatic the best!

Agree with the above, and would also recommend the following (in order of preference)

Eagles - Hotel California
Queen - The Game
Queen - A Night at the Opera
Beach Boys - Pet Sounds

From what I've been reading, the forthcoming release next month of The Flaming Lips' - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots is outstanding. It is also supposed to make incredible use of surround.

Steely Dan - Everything Must Go - especially the stereo mix which is at maximum resolution.

Frank Zappa - Halloween

Both available from play.com

Just received Tubular Bells 2003 on DVD-A - it's fantastic, and have Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Fights the Pink Robots on pre-order - reading the US reviews of this it's out of this world.

I've now found out why some have received their copy of TB2003
on dvd-a and i'm still waiting. It's all down to the continuing excellence of the marketing strategy adopted by the record companies in regards to Dvd-audio

Cheers Gilesm
After reading your post I ordered TB2003 DVD/A. on Sunday.

It came today, I sat and listened 2 it, and it's great to hear more of the music, and feel it moving around the room.

It's made me appreciate the individual pieces/tracks more so, as works of their own.
I also listened 2 the stereo tracks, and by comparison the music felt compact, as if the speakers were overloaded with different instruments.

This disc has definately raised my oppinion of the format.

Thanks again.

Rich tee.

Metallica - Metallica (the black one with Enter Sandman)

It's very different from the CD (and surprisingly involving)
