Theres been loads of decent albums this year for me, so I may change my mind by the time the year ends.

Would be one of my choices as well, love the analogue synth sounds on the album, some more I like from this year are:

To Be Still - Alela Diane
Notes from the Treehouse - Alessi's Ark
Backspacer - Pearl Jam
Th Liberty of Norton Folgate - Madness

but album of the year so far, for me is The Duckworth Lewis Method by The Duckworth Lewis Method

Well, unless it's delayed it should come this year.

One of the most important releases in the history of recorded music:

Not Fade Away: The Complete Studio Recordings And More: Buddy Holly: Amazon.co.uk: Music

Hmmmm, difficult to pin this down but I'm gonna agree with an earlier post and say-
it's Blitz - Yeah Yeah Yeahs

some really great albums this year for me though. Patrick Wolf, Big Pink, Florence and the Machine, and some great electronica like Clubroot.

Re: Best Album of 2009..so far

John Frusciante - The Empyrean
The mind-expanding, guitar genius takes us off into space, it's just amazing!

Fontan - Winterhwila
Psychadelic, electronic wonder. Like Pink Floyd went to Ibiza...also 2009's best use of stereo effects.

Muse - The Resistance
I started off thinking they'd got it seriously wrong but with repeated listens have come to realise it's their most excessive, spectacular album to date.

Manic Street Preachers - Journal for Plague Lovers
The album we all wanted the manics to make but didn't know it.

I'm struggling to think of an album I've bought this year that was actually produced in 2009. Nothing has taken my fancy so far.

Had to look through WMP to search through "2009" XD

I quite liked BEP new album, Rob Thomas OneRepublic, Killers, Keri Hilson, and Shakira.

But best would be Rob Thomas's Cradlesong.
