"Remember You're a Womble" is about as dire as you can get.

there not that bad..seasons in the Sun is ok-ish even though my sister played it to death, Billy don't be a Hero... lived near me they probably still play it in the working mens clubs, Gilbert O'Sullivan..my best mate favourite at the time wasn't best pleased though when he go a set of Gilbert and Sullivan cassettes for Christmas , Back on Topic, anything that made it on to the Top of the Pops albums on the Music for pleasure (anything but) label you got in Woolworths.

Re: Terrible Songs From the Seventies

Wasn't Rolfie's Two Little Boys in the 70's? And the Birdie Song? Of course, being a prog rocker at the time, I thought everything from punk's arrival in '76 was the devil's work.

Re: Terrible Songs From the Seventies

Two little boys - Rolf Harris was the last number one of the 60s, first number one of the 70s, wasn't the birdy song from the 80's...btw last number one of the 70s, first number one of the 80s was Another brick in the wall - Pink Floyd.

Thought of some more terrible song...well any thing by the Grumbleweeds or the Barron Knights.

Speak for yourself. I'd rather have 20 minutes a side of quality 70's prog than all the pop drivel, indie tripe and dance trash of the 80's and 90's.

Speaking of crap though, the whole novelty song bit went too far in the 70's as has been mentioned. However, many crimes were also committed in the name of disco and new wave. I mean, 'Kung fu fighting' must be the biggest pile of mindless tripe ever passed off as 'serious' pop.

Alone Again (Naturally) by Gilbert O'Sullivan is brilliant. Pete Wylie does it like occasionally, and says that if Neil Young had written and performed it instead of a **** in a flat cap, it'd be hailed as a work of genius.

Yellow River by Christie, the abysmal cover of Have I the Right by The Dead End Kids, Sad Sweet Dreamer by Sweet Sensation, That Same Old Feeling by Pickettywitch and You Won't Find Another Fool Like Me by The New Seekers.

Re: Terrible Songs From the Seventies

Being born in 1970, I grew up on music from the late 70's onwards,

Songs that used to annoy the hell out of me were.........

Don McLean "American Pie"
Melanie "Brand New Key"

& possibly the worst

Rupert Holmes - Escape (pina colada song).

Re: Terrible Songs From the Seventies

Some dodgy stuff to be sure, but they get a " get out of jail free card " for not being Robbie Williams.
