Hi all. Some years back, I was turned on VH1 really late at night, and they were airing a really cool video. Unfortunately I caught it in the middle, but what I saw featured a cutout animation style of this fellow wearing a suit and tie which would animate into various positions, and then the background would slide in from the sides, completing the image. The beat was a catchy electronica type. Very slick in its execution, I've not seen anything like it since. I was actually on the way out but this video drew me in. I forgot the name of the group. This is driving me absolutely mad! Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Although a classic, Peter Gabriel's very catchy and innovative Sledge Hammer is not the one. The suit and tie thing was only a small piece, the main effect was the cutout man being positioned and then the background sliding in around him to complete the image. But the wardrobe was a suit and tie, from the half I caught.
Therefore, although Peter Gabriel = , I'm still on the case. Thanks for your reply!
David Byrne, ahh yes. same as he ever was..No, but the artist was probably European though.
I want to say that it was Thievery Corp. but my friend who was with me can't remember either. Yeah, it was this little cutout man that was positioned in thin air until the scenery came and then the rest of the image made sense. It was really cool how they did it.. Kind of in the vein of Remind Me by Royksopp with all of the moving around of objects, only not so busy with information..
