Any Love for American rock?

Not sure what the genre is called, so I've used the horrible term American Rock, sorry, but I'm talking about American Rock bands who create great unadulterated rock tunes, yeah, they maybe a little cliche, but I'm a sucker for a good riff and melody. I'm talking about bands such as:

The Exies
Chevelle
Seether
Three Days Grace
Cross Fade
Breaking Benjamin
Trapt
Smile empty soul

These bands don't have any main stream presence over here, they're heavier and deeper than the EMO bands that did. I tend to seek them on export using Amazon market place, as well listening to them and others via internet radio sites.

I like a wide range of music, but always fall back to this type of guitar based Rock. I think these bands are the modern day flag bearers of the 90's rock scene, where lipstick and hairspray battled grunge and rap rock.

Yeah, I know Nickleback hit over here, which is a similar vain. I don't understand why the UK pick up on certain rock bands and run with them for years. See Chilli peppers and Green Day too, yeah they're good bands, but come on, there's other fresh rock talent out there too.

If you're into anything remotely like the list above, please post similar bands and albums you'd recommend.

Try Godsmack, Theory Of A Deadman or Three Doors down.

I like what I've heard from Shinedown, but that's only been the odd song, may look out for an album. I do like 3 doors down and in a similar vein, I really like some of the Finger eleven stuff.

I did really like Theory of a deadman, but I wasn't over keen on the last album, a bit commercial for me, but that could be due to a running joke with a mate of mine, who always plays End of the Summer just to annoy me, as he knows it's a pet hate song of mine. Mainly because of the unbelievably catchy chorus, with classic key change to boot

That said, Hoobastank are a band that I used to class as commercial manufactured rock, but they've churned out some cracking tunes of late.

I know what you're saying, but I regard these bands as alternative rock from the 90's and not particularly current, or should I say, not my particular current taste in music.

All have released excellent albums this year?

But anyway, a matter of opinion. I'd regard most of the bands you've posted as having never released a good record, so I'm probably not your target market.

No worries, although I'm surprised you'd listen to all the bands and their albums referenced in this thread given you clearly don't like the style
