Having recently upgraded my speakers to Monitor Audio (looking to replace my amp to a Denon AVR-2310 in the next few months) I am now beginning to appreciate music in a totally different way.
The music is now much more layered and details. For example, I was listening to Jamie T's new album King's and Queen's the other evening and I could hear (and feel) each chord and the fret board was alive in my room!
I've traditionally been bought up on Hip-Hop, dance, reggae, chilled beats etc but the older I get the more I'm appreciating acoustic and live music.
What I would love is for some recommendations of some "half way house" music that will provide some intelligent rifts and beats accompanied by some great acoustics and vocals. The kind of music to unwind to with friends that doesn't put you to sleep!
I've probably not been very clear on what I want but then if I’m too specific I’ll narrow the suggestions down too much which I don't want as the more the merrier!
Thanks all
P.S. I did check the stickey, got to page 8 and it was taking so long to check each post I'm sure to get rumbled by my boss! Back to work...
or.................................that'll do for now, but those should make any system shine and is good to listen to too, unlike many ''test'' discs people have played me which yes, make the system work, but is sooooooo dull!!

Have you heard of Red Snapper? All their albums are superb IMO, especially Making Bones which is possibly my favourite for a speaker workout, although Our Aim is to Satisfy is a close second, mind you Prince Blimey is also superb! oh... they all are
If you haven't listened to them then could be right up your street, nice accoustic jazz sound fused with hiphop, drum n bass and various vocalists(including the likes of Beth Orton, MC Det and more) always with some beatiful mellow numbers thrown in that send shivers down my spine. Really do need good speakers to appreciate them fully, can almost get that live sound, almost

first song i tested my new speakers on was this one....
the quality of this one isn't great on you tube. i had the cd single on loud and it sounded sweet. i know its not acoustic but you did mention dance so though it was worth a shout.
Have a listen to some Kings of Convenience: Scandinavian acoustic folky stuff, but don't let that put you off, their roots were in electronica! Their 1st album was "Quiet is the New Loud", and there is a remix album out called "Versus" which should give you the beats element you're looking for and let your speakers go for it.
Remixes are by Royksopp, Fourtet, Andy Votel, Riton, Ladytron, among others. Just listening to it now, very good!

Tetlee, this sounds like the money shot, I'll shall certainly be checking them out as I was only saying to my better half that we need to add to the music collections (especially as I've just spent a small fortune on my new AVR!
EDIT: Just ordered a used copy of Making Bones off of Amazon for £2.32 delivered, I mean come on, that's just silly money! :D

Enjoy!
Another great suggestion that I will be added to my wish list on Amazon.
My girlfriend was loving the foo fighters album samples off of amazon! I think i could kill two birds here by purchasing Skin and Bones!
Skin & Bones is great. The sound quality on the DVD version is fantastic & the performance is 2 hours long. Ripped the audio onto a couple of cd's as I had to have it in the car as well.
As for other music to make your speakers shine I find Elbow's Asleep In The Back is also top notch.
