KanYe Wests 808s and heartbreaks was a great album. It was true heartfelt lyrics. Kanye was not afraid to break away from current hip-hop to make a new sound. KanYe is also the hottest producer around making some of the best songs on current hit albums. Half of the blueprint 3 was produced by KanYe WEst. This is a number 1 album in the USA. There is no denying that he is a massive artist and producer. He has definitely contributed more to music than Taylor Swift. |
commons last two albums have been excellent, UMC in particular was a great album. the video for the title track was fantastic. i never though after all the years that common would end up in the charts even in the states. he's fantastic live too. the first time i saw him 2001 really stood out as he changed costumes slightly for each track, showing the change of music and fashion through the years, a simple but effective technique that made such a memorable show. i last saw him a couple of times a couple of years ago, obviously with a much larger and more well known catalogue, but still down to earth
i didn't really enjoy the last kayne album, it's thrown him away from the rapping too much. certainly he was one of my favourite rappers before that, but i think he's going a bit off the boil like eminem, he too was great with his first 2 or 3 mainstream albums, and even all his collabs and guest spots were great, but his 15 minutes are over for now
i've never ever been a fan of jay z really. he has a few interesting tracks, but with some rappers you can listen to them for what they say, but he says nothing to me. he was pretty lame on the VMA's, even with alicia backing him, it's like he thinks he is god and everyone adores him so he doesn't have to put in any real effort anymore. it's the hunger of new starving artists that give them the fire to create good hip hop music
