The charts hadn't been invented when I was born so I would guess that the biggest seller would have been a Gregorian chant

Cliff Richard - Please don't tease
The Shadows - Apache

Oh dear! That's ancient.

Er no! I overlooked that completely. According to the link, the song at no. 1 when I was born was The Everly Brothers "Cathys Clown".

I felt sure I'd read or heard somewhere that "Please don't tease" and/or "Apache" were the ones. I was also - and a bit daft/inaccurate - using "The Rock 'n' Roll Years" of the year 1960 that I have (on home recorded DVD) as a guide.

Anyway - it doesn't make me any younger!

Re: What song/album was no.1 when you where born?

Love this thread!!!

No 1 Single and Album for me was Bridge Over Troubled Waters by Simon and Garfunkel.

I'll settle for that!

I'm knocked out by learning that I share my birthday with Pearl Jams' guitarist... one of my all time favourite bands!!

Apparently... it was at No.1 for 33 weeks on and off, between Feb 1970 to Sept 1971, reaching the top spot 8 times!! Initially, it was No.1 for 13 weeks.

I suggest that all those with BOTW as their No.1 album should list the No.2 album as well in order to maintain an element of individuality!!!

No.1 Single- Adam & The Ants "Prince Charming"

No.1 Album- Genesis "Abacab"

I always thought Prince Charming was a mid to late eighties thing, not '81.
