I'll be buying it as soon as it's available.

The album sounds surprizingly potent in PLII Music Mode anyway, it'll be interesting to see whether the DVD-A is a significant improvement over the CD.

The release date has been delayed again.
Here's an extract from dvd reviewer.....Another DVD-Audio disc, Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots 5.1, which was originally due on 24th November now also shows up on 12th January.

The official web site (flaminglips.com) is still saying 18th Nov for the US release date and 24th Nov for the UK.

Unfortunately, on play.com (where i've ordered from) are showing 12th Jan

Amazon.co.uk have it as 24th Nov - we''ll see if their website states they have any stock on Monday.

Mine arrived this morning and I am now basking in its delight. Albeit with a neighbor friendly volume and the moment.

First impressions are that it has been worth the wait. Certainly not just a hi res port from CD. There are things going on in the room that were not happening on CD even with DPII enabled.

Enjoy yours!!

It's a cracker all right - certainly the most prolific use of multi-channel audio i've heard to date. It makes such extensive use of all channels i've only just now noticed how tonally different my rears are to my front 3!

At 1st I was in awe of the full range music being flung from speaker to speaker. You soon forget about the 'gimicky' aspect of it and get totally lost in the music - I became disorientated on more than one occasion.

Big from me then

Oooh, nearly forgot about the extra DVD-Audio tracks and the vids - definate value for money. The acoustic version of Yoshimi Pt.1 played for AOL!? is my current fave.

Can I just be the first to say that the Flaming Lips are pants. The music is ok, and I'm sure the DVD-A is very good, but if the lead singer could sing he would be dangerous! Awful awful voice....

I think there should be an "IMO" in there somewhere

I happen to like his singing style very much - I also like Pavement, Ben Kweller and Mercury Rev to name but a few. All fantastic artists (IMO ) with a similar singing style to Wayne from the Lips.

Sorry, IMO, The Flaming Lips are pants. I also dislike Mercury Rev, for the same reason. Music OK, singing CRAP. But it's obviously an acquired taste of singing, kind of 'cat-strangulation', IMO
