Hyde Park 27th June 2009

went with a good old friend on our what seems to be turning into a yearly jaunt. Great day. laid back atmosphere.
Started off with the Pretenders, who played a great mix of songs from new album, and earlier stuff
followed by a bit of Priscilla Ahn. Great singing voice and rootsy too.
Then Seasick Steve, who was definately in good cheer and form!
Then Ben harper and the relentless ones.. excellent show including a Led Zeppelin cover... cant remeber which one
Then it rained and thundered
...and the Fleet Foxes did a good few songs... but had to leave eraly for the Magic Numbers in the 'tent'... who were fantasic by the way

....And then, the man himself... Neil Young.

What can i say, first time i've seen him and the band live. luurverly!!

...then after a brilliant set, they encore with a Beatles song.. followed shortly by Paul McCartney!... and a Neil and Paul sing'a'long commences
ending with Neil recking a guitar in the most musical abbandonment way.

what a day...

anyone else go? p

Re: Hyde Park 27th June 2009

Watched most of the fleet foxes set, but while they were on it was raining and thundering. I like the fleet foxes sound, but suits a sunny sky more than a grey one. So i had best of both worlds

Neil Young was shockingly bad, we walked out after 3 songs and went to the pub

You walked out from Neil, I myself consider him to be better than Bruce.

How did the birthday go?

70th bruce show for my 40th was most excellent

way to many people drunk wandering around but it was a good show !

Re: Hyde Park 27th June 2009

That's what spoils it for me, people being too drunk.

You should be getting drunk after the show not during or before.

BTW Alan are you really 70?

No, not really, I just feel like it sometimes.

Actually I tend to feel much younger in a Bruce audience

Re: Hyde Park 27th June 2009

yeah there was basically a punch up near us. obviously drink related. Was a hot day.
On these all dayers i tend to lay off the beer till 7ish. Would have preferred a few jd's and ice, but they only had beer or cider this year...
