Norah Jones fans will not be disappointed.

Really, I'm not usually into this type of 'easy on the ears' music, Hybrid's Morning Sci-Fi being the last CD I bought, but hey...we all have different moods from day to day, eh?

I cannot recommend this young lady highly enough. I bought the album over the weekend and will report back once I have a chance to listen to it (I'm away from home this week). I went to see her in her first big concert last night at the Empire in Sheperds Bush and she was amazing. Full report to come, all I can say is buy this album NOW.

I decided to sample Katie Melua after reading the Evening Standard’s article: Girl with Kate expectations published on 29th January.

The also recommend Jamie Cullum, Joss Stone and Amy Winehouse and having the similar style.

I am quite keen on Norah Jones and a while ago I bought Joss Stone’s ‘The Soul Sessions’ which in my view does not come to the same quality. That made me a bit suspicious but still keen to try the other.

I’ve checked with www.allofmp3.com and they have all of them available for purchase by download. The cost is based on the file size and after selecting 320kbps it comes to £0.75 per whole CD.

I liked both Katie Melua and Amy Winehouse. Jamie Cullum was total disappointment. I will be deleting that one.

i`ve had the album a few weeks now and it really is excellent stuff.

i wouldnt say its similar to norah jones though.two great artists,but totally differnt voices,and to a certain extent,different musical styles.

it looks like we`ll be hearing alot of katie melua in the coming weeks. she`s just knocked dido off the no 1 album spot in the u.k.

theamy winehouse album(frank) is a great listen too. there are one or two fillers on it, but her astonishing voice carries the album through.

three completely different female artists to my ears,but all definitely worth a listen.

I've found another one recently, Natalie Merchant. She was the singer with the band 10,000 Maniacs but went solo a few years ago. Her album "Ophelia" is excellent. It's my most played CD at the moment. There are some samples on Amazon.

By the way, Daneel, if you are in Suffolk at the moment, Bic Runga is supporting Aqualung at The Colchester Arts Centre on 3rd February.

Thank again Gary, unfortunately I won't be around on that day. I have a recommendation for you, Jane Monheit. She doesn't sound particularly original but is very pleasing to listen to.

Just got this, Joss Stone, Amy Winehouse and the New Nora Jones, I think I am going to have to listen a few times to get used to it, it is good, unfortunately I listened to it after the Joss Stone which put it in the shade a bit I can not believe she is only 16 what a Voice

Her version of 'I think it's going to rain today' is actually better than the Nina Simone version IMO... and I never thought I'd say that!

Shame – if only all the other up and coming artists got their music plugged like she has we might have a lot more music to choose from. Instead, we get this watered down sugary smooth cack, only suitable for JazzFm in the afternoon.

I've been lucky enough to see Natalie Merchant, Tracy Chapman and Norah Jones live in the past couple of years. All three were superb!!

My favourite Natalie Merchant album is *Motherland* though Ophelia and Tigerlily are excellent as well - her live album is ok. However, the 10,000 Maniacs MTV Unplugged beats all of those in my book and earns a place in my all-time top 3 albums!! It's when you realise that the cheery song you're listening to is about a neighbour beating their child that you realise how deep it all goes.

Apart from Tracy Chapman's debut album (which is what everyone remembers her for) the more recent albums are also well worth a listen. To my mind the second one she brought out (Crossroads) is the weakest but the others are stronger and have some sublime tracks.

Until seeing Norah Jones in concert I didn't realise that her songs are written mainly by her and her band. She's not the most outgoing performer, but when her velvet voice drifts over you there's nothing else like it.
