The Best Music Format?

What do you think the best music format and why?

I personally like .WMA because its so small in size but good in quality. I also like the look of .FLAC.

WAV - storage is cheap. 24 bit WAV preferably.

I don't have any experience of either of the formats mentioned above, and although having minimal technical knowledge, have learned a great deal over the past few years regarding the physical audio formats.

From my experience only, I have not heard any audio format that comes close to DVD-A or SACD in terms of sound quality. I like the fact that they often offer the possibilty of multi-channel playback, in addition to often having a stereo option. All of this in addition to a non hi-res option. I was recently told that DVD-A is technically superior to SACD, but it wouldn't surprise me if the opposite has been also said somewhere. If I were pushed to name my favourite of these two hi-res formats, I'd probably say DVD-A.

IMHO the latest tweaks by JVC to the K2 redbook h/w can come very close to well done dvda/sacd

I've heard this too, but it will only matter if all in the food chain take advantage of whatever superiority is there!

Im in ageement here, as the 2chan only 192 dvda's sound much better to my ears with my h/w, including 45rpm lp's
