Re: download festival

I was at the Download festival for it's first year, where Limp Bizkit were replaced by Audioslave as headliners (no great loss there :D), and Iron Maiden headlined the last night (probably the best night of my life that )

Anyway, I couldn't believe how much bullsh*t they (the organisers / Clear Channel) fed us.

As paying ticket holders (full weekend + camping, IIRC about £125), we were supposed to be able to access all sorts of extras - videos of the gig would be available on the website in a 'members only' area, which you'd need to register with your ticket details for, among other things.

Suffice to say none of the extras materialised. I still feel it was a worthwhile experience even if just to see an awesome Maiden set, but the attitude of the organisers, who didn't offer anything as a replacement for the promises they couldn't deliver on, disgusted me.

Re: download festival

I went on Sunday - ZZTop were great as were Journey, Therapy, Black Stone Cherry and Buckcherry.

I watched Whitesnake & Def Leppard from a distance and thought they were both average. def Leppard in particular didn't sound right - maybe it was just the position I was standing in relation to the speakers, but it wasn't quite right!!

ZZ Top for a bunch of old men were awesome and epitomised cool!

Re: download festival

i went on saturday (more of a metal head) although I would have loved to have gone on friday but couldnt due to work. Devildriver were great as always, Static X were a bit boring, Marilyn Mansons set was really good but i heard a lot of people around me saying it was rubbish (to be fair he did seem a bit lackluster in places), Slipknot headlining was awesome, saw them last year in birmingham, they never disappoint in both the songs they play and energy, really enjoyed the day

i was kind of dissapointed by the online webcam side of things, was hoping to see the bands i had missed on friday after i got back, dont see the harm in people watching bands they might have missed but i guess theyll appear on youtube soon enough
