Can I record a web media stream?

Anyone know if there's a way you can save a .asf stream from a website to hard disk? and maybe convert it to mp3 afterwards?

must be something out there that can copy a stream?

Cheers, Neil

I know of an app for the mac called Audio Hijack - it basically records any sort of sound, so it could be a live radio stream, a dvd soundtrack etc etc. There might be a PC version of it. Maybe.

A longer way round would be to record it onto an audio cd-rw with a standalone cd recorder - (if you have one) - sound card line out to cd recorder line in. Then you just finalise the new CD and stick it into your cdrom drive and record it to your hard drive as normal (even converting it to mp3 at the same time if you've got that feature in your software.

do a search for Streambox VCR, it does a great job at grabbing streaming audio.
