Tracks with the longest intro?

Which tracks have the longest intro before the vocal?

The 2 longest I know of are:

Fiction Factoty - Feels like heaven 1:27
Big Country - Porrohman 2.:22

'All of the Above' - Transatlantic, from the album 'SMPTe'

The track is just over 30 minutes long, and the vocal doesn't come in for at least 8 minutes !!

Apart from waiting 5 years for it, we then had to listen to 4 mins 59 seconds of "Breaking Into Heaven", the 1st track on The Stone Roses' "Second Coming" album, before Ian Brown graced us with his presence.....

The intro to Cortez the Killer (Neil Young) seems to go on a bit, but in a good way.

Mylo.

It's just me being a twit

'Mother' from Goldie is a erm......a little different.

It takes approx 18 minutes for him to utter a single vocal note.

The first 6 minutes is taken up by a 'wind' type noise.

Shame really, because the short 8-9 minute drum & bass section in between, is pretty class.

Overall, the track is about 55+ minutes long

Wow, I have never really listened to his music. Is it on par with say Roni Size? Might have to give it a blast, will my neighbours like it?

Mylo.

I'd personally stay clear of the album (Saturnz Return) which has the 'Mother' track on it.

Goldie's debut album : Timeless : is his definitive work.
Probably the first BIG mainstream drum & bass album.

It certainly allowed artists such as Roni Size to enter the mainstream.

Roni's stuff is more accessible than Goldie's.
Goldie's : Timeless : was a big, bold statement which had some really great stuff on (and at the time quite forward thinking)

He's had a few good tunes out on his label 'Metalheadz', but he usually uses different artist names.

Seany.

Is timecode Rob Playford then?

Not having him as producer (despite some very good substitutes) probably helped shape the outcome of 'Saturnz Return'

Doesn't count in my book. Tracks with longest intro before the vocal?

There are many albums that go on and on, but that's a different topic.

yes do own a pair of ears, although i'm not sad enough to trawl the internet looking for some new floppy ones. just how much time do you have on your hands?
fair enough....tubular bells is interesting in the begginning but i happen to be misfortunate enough to live with a big fan of the album. it always interupts my music upstairs my mum plays it so loud!! the damned album is good the first time, better the second but by the third it gets just a little bit sickening.

I think "The End" by the Doors has a pretty long intro .
Certainly it was recommended to me as a good way of getting your money's worth out of a jukebox!

I'm actually quite pleased a teenage bon jovi fan thinks I'm sad. In fact, I'd be disappointed at anything less.

Tip: you can trawl the internet using a 'search engine'. For instance, you can go to www.google.com, type in 'cloth ears' and within seconds you have an endless list of related sites to choose from.

Best example i can think of (could also have a shout for longest outro) is One Of These Days by Pink Floyd (Only one vocal line about halfway through), or possibly Echoes

As Slippery seal said back up^^^ Mike Oldfield, Tubular Bells, is really really good.... but, what about Pink Floyd, you would think that 'The Wall' was just one song!!! their songs just merge, its really good listening. but even if you are a big fan, only a couple of songs really stand out! its good background listening. Shine on you crazy diamond takes AGES to start with vocals. LOVELY THOUGH!!!
