I during this Beginning was good and end was really good, I think the middle may have dragged out a little. Not sure if it was this or if I was tired but I will give it another go in HD goodness

I really enjoyed this, although the people I was with didn't and there was actually a few people in the cinema who walked out
Looking forward to this in HD, even if I don't like Russell !! Denzel's hat and coat combo should look even more stunning

It's now confirmed for February 19th. Quote: |
Also available from the 19th February will be a HD-DVD/DVD Combo release of the film. Both theatrical and unrated cuts will be presented in high definition widescreen, along with a Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track. Extras will include a commentary with director Ridley Scott and writer Steven Zaillian, a Picture in Picture function, deleted scenes, an alternate opening, and an Uncovering the Past: The Real Frank Lucas and Richie Roberts featurette.
| Looks good though it's a shame the TrueHD track looks to have been dropped. |

anyone know if that is coming to HD-DVD | It's a Sony Pictures film so will be BR only.... release date expected to be Feb 12th, day and date with the Sd DVD. But these will be US release dates and as a Sony title I presume it will be region locked too... can't find anything on UK release...
More details on US release here.. and here..

More details from DVDTimes... http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=66770
The more you read, the more disappointing a release it is. No extended cut in HD and just a handful of extras when compared to the 2 and 3 disc edition DVDs.

Can they explain the reasoning behind this sort of thing, I am sure it happened on a few occassions now (although can only think of DH4).

With Die Hard they said it was a time issue and that it wouldn't be ready in time, considering this is coming a month earlier than expected, that might be the case here.
Universal are normally good with this sort of thing, in the case of Miami Vice and Knocked Up they put the extended cut on the HD side and the theatrical cut on the SD side, which I always thought was a nice compromise.
