Further MGM Delays - Ronin and Red Dawn

Fox/MGM have announced an indefinite delay to two out of there three remaining Blu-ray releases for 2007. Both Ronin and Red Dawn and now been put on hold until 2008. This announcement comes in the wake of an indefinite delay to the Battle Of Britain and A Birdge Too Far.

So of all the titles promised in CES 2007 by Fox/MGM we've barely had a handful

Same old story. Terrible support of HDM.

I take it Rescue Dawn is their only remaining 2007 title then.

To be honest I think releasing lots of catalogue titles at this time of the year is silly anyway. Sales are dominated by the big releases, they would sell more copies at quieter times of the year. Hopefully Blu Ray will stop this announceing of titles months and months ahead and stick to a schedule.

might be having second thoughts on being blu-ray only ,possibly going hd dvd exclusive

If I'm not mistaken, Weinstein are in financial trouble, so aren't particularly interested in ventures such as HD at the moment.

MGM would also seem to be in financial trouble. IIRC there was an arrangement for GS to raise some capital but the recent credit crunch put a spanner in the works there.
