I just bought the Japanese Blu-ray.

And to think, I already had a copy of the Japanese version and flogged it only a few weeks ago. Ah well, I made £15 out of it!

Depends if they bother to re-submit it to the BBFC or not. I'd imagine they won't, but you never know.

Melonfarmers still show it as cut.

BBFC state that the last submission was in 2004 where it was passed (submitted) uncut with a running time of 133 minutes and 8 seconds. Of course, there's of way of knowing what was cut prior to submission.

Previous releases show a running time of 133 minutes and 7 seconds with 7 seconds cut.

I'd have to assume that the full running time is 133:14 and with no recent resubmission, the current print would be IMO cut.

I won't be buying the UK release.


But I'll keep an eye on the BBFC lists and if there's a resubmision I'll let you know.

i am a massive fan of face off and have had it on vhs, laserdisc, dvd everything

im days away from getting my panasonic bd10a blu ray player which does 7.1 anologue for pcm 5.1

i just pre ordered from dvdworldusa the usa version of face off, but after reading about the pcm track should i go for the japanese version

as you have just ordered it can you send me the link to where you got it from

what was the total cost and did it take long to get there.

Regarding the cuts to the UK version of Face/Off I'm sure there are other cuts to the DVD versions.

I recenlty watched it on Channel 5 and when Archer and Troy are chasing each other on the speedboats towards the end, a Police boat tries to stop them and Troy/Archer fires his machine gun at the boat killing all the cops on board. I'm sure there were more bullet impacts on the CH5 showing than there are on the DVD. And you also saw one of the dead cops fall on the controls of the boat and thats why it spins around allowing Troy/Archer to use it as a ramp.

Can anyone confirm if this is in the HD versions of the film.

The release in Japan is by Buena Vista, so Paramount's decision should not affect it.

However, I've noticed that amazon.co.jp no longer stock it so I wouldn't dilly dally around too much just in case!

From the looks of it yes, and the packaging looks exactly the same as the Japanese version so the soundtrack should be PCM. But will it be cut?

Japanese Blu-ray of Face Off arrived today. Great picture and a thunderous PCM soundtrack!

I just saw a guy get his ear blown off in the scene with the plane. I don't remember seeing that before!

This is an AVC encode. Presumably the HD-DVD won't be AVC will it?

Not sure but Paramount have done a few AVCs for HD DVD so it might be.

Just seen the UK released Blu-Ray by Buena Vista in some shops. Anyone got it yet? If so, care to comment on the picture, sound and whether it's cut please?

The specs on the back seemed to be what you'd expect from a Buena Vista back cat release, PCM 5.1 and a lack of extras.

Got Face/Off today and I've just found time to scan through a few scenes.

Pleased to say the transfer looks fantastic. Blacks are deep and the picture is sharp and detailed. I would put this on par with MI:III.

A big thumbs up to Buena Vista for bringing this to Blu-ray and making it look so good.

This title is multi region ABC plays fine on my US Samsung BD-P1000.

The JAP version is fairly crummy PQ-wise. Hard to believe that the UK version compares to Mi3.

I too would be interested to know that, if however that is the only cut then so long as the pq is good then its a purchase for me.
