Best film to show off blu ray?

Although i have had my HD tv for ages, i've been waiting for the format to stablise and have just ordered my first blu ray player (sony s550)

Wanted to consult the gurus on this board as to the best film(s) to really show off the format....

Re: Best film to show off blu ray?

IRON MAN!!!!!

Or The Dark Knight... both AWESOME for pic and sound.

I, Robot is highly rated too, and for animation either Ratatouille, Cars or Wall.E

Re: Best film to show off blu ray?

Planet Earth always gets a mention. To be honest, theres now loads - you could try: Baraka, Spiderman 3, Speed Racer, Any of The Pirates Of The Caribbean films, Dark Knight. Those are just a few from my collection, but its a start!.

Also, check out this list - http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=858316

Iron Man, the Dark Knight and Hellboy II all look awesome. I quite like the way Ultraviolet looks too

Re: Best film to show off blu ray?

Dark Knight is a good one for showcasing both sound and picture but another favourite of mine has to be Transformers - for sound. Even the logos give me tingles at the start and then the attack sequence on the US base by the Helicopter/Decepticon absolutely rocks.

Re: Best film to show off blu ray?

Speed Racer is a mind blowingly good film to show off Blu-ray.

I am slightly embarrassed to admit that I quite liked the film, very silly, but good fun.

Re: Best film to show off blu ray?

Baraka, more of a doc with music than a film (similar to the 'HD Discovery Travel; series)but arguably the BEST digital BD transfer to date (from an 65mm > 8k source ! )...and it shows, the PQ is incredible, but audio is mainly music, albeit HD audio

Re: Best film to show off blu ray?

Yes, as a region-free US release, no region B release announced as far as I know as yet, and it is indeed a fantastic demo disc

Re: Best film to show off blu ray?

Yea King Kong is supposed to be excellent but I'm yet to pick it up.

One I really like is the Incredible Hulk, (Ed Norton one). Surprised that's not mentioned yet.
I just switched the brain off and enjoyed it more simply because it looked SO GOOD!

Demo material and a fun film, can't beat that combo
