Forced German Subtitles on a UK DVD

I recently bought 'The Best Of Ealing Studios Collection' from HMV.com and it showed up today. I watched 'The Man In The White Suit' with no problems but when I stuck in the 'Ladykillers' disc I get forced German subtitles for some reason. This happens on both my Toshiba HD-XE1 HD DVD Player and my Sony BDP-S350 Blu-ray Player. Pressing the subtitle button on the remote has no effect whatsoever. The funny thing is, if I play it on my laptop, there are no forced German subtitles.

Has anybody had any similar problems and know how to solve it? I have over 800 DVDs and this is the first time such as problem has occurred.

Re: Forced German Subtitles on a UK DVD

I have a problem with Gavin And Stacey on my Yamaha. It brings up the viewing angle symbol and I can't get rid of it. It plays fine on my recorder.
