Picture issues with Dark Knight DVD

I will be checking later on another dvd player, but am I the only one who has a problem with a lot of artifacts in many dark scenes of the film? It's hard to describe, but very noticeable - where the picture should be black or very dark, there are dark blue patches spreading right to the edge of the screen.

There's nothing wrong with my player, video processor or projector that is evident from watching other dvds with dark scenes in them.

It looks like an encoding problem to me and I'd be interested in knowing who else might have seen this.

I have the 2 disc limited edition version of the film.

Re: Picture issues with Dark Knight DVD

What region? SD or HD?

Looking at your sig rules out crap equipment which is usually the culprit.

Re: Picture issues with Dark Knight DVD

No, I don't think it's my setup that's to blame as I have no problems with other dvds.

It's the DVD so is SD and it's region 2.

This wouldn't be the first time someone has put out a defective disc and it;s definitely a fault rather than an effect! Bit surprised nobody else has said anything if it is though, but I will be checking again myself later today using a different dvd player with my TV rather than cinema to see if the problem emerges on there.

Yargh, you have put me in a never-ending loop!!!!

Anyhow, post some pictures of the issues, it's easy with a DVD. Womble has an image capture key, but prtscn will often put a picture in the buffer that you can paste into a frame.

Tell me about it, every DK picture quality thread is cross referenced to another. I'm getting dizzy.
