No they don't, some HD DVD's are "Combo" discs but I don't think I have seen a BD one yet.

No Blu-rays have ever been released as combo's.

Re: BLU Ray disc Flip Side

God I hope not as I had to avoid plenty of HD-DVD's because they were combo only.

Why did you have to avoid them?

Re: BLU Ray disc Flip Side

I've had more issues with Blu-Ray discs than combos. YMMV

Re: BLU Ray disc Flip Side

I doubt that a BD/DVD combo disc will ever be made.

Blu-ray’s data layer is much closer to the disc surface than is the case with HD DVD’s meaning that greater precision is required in focusing the laser. So any inaccuracies in the disc are likely to lead to severe playback issues. Any dual sided disc is going to be more prone to problems than a single sided one

Warner at one time proposed a combo disc with HD DVD on one side and BD on the other. Politics aside, many doubted that such a disc was technically possible and it eventually came to nothing.

The most likely solution to playback in non Blu-ray equipment is including a digital copy that can be transferred to a media player or simply including a standard DVD copy of the film along with the Blu-ray version.

They could never get double sided DVD's to be 100% reliable and there are plenty of posts on here from people having playback trouble with HD-DVD's and alot of the time they were combo discs so avoiding them seemed the smart thing to do.

Saying that I did give in and buy the Star Trek Season 1 Combo set as I couldnt resist the price but like I feared one of the discs caused problems but thanfully the other 9 were fine.

No, but some of Tartan's Blu-ray Disc releases are double-disc affairs, with the second disc being an SD DVD version of the film.

Re: BLU Ray disc Flip Side

I don't understand why they can't make a reliable double sided disc. It is a piece of plastic with some tin foil. How hard can it really be.

With the protective coating on Bluray I imagine that it would be even easier as the disc wont be scratched when playing the reverse side.

This should be on every BR, a portable version (Ipod/Phone/PSP) and a SD version for burning to DVD. I would buy A LOT more BR is this was the case.

As I rule I dont like flip discs, as its good to have a side to take finger prints!
