Blu-ray Audio: Bringing DVD-Audio/SACD to the masses!

Plus a few HD-DVD titles too.

"Surround Records" have been producing albums on HD-DVD and now Blu-ray with 7.1-channel DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio high-resolution surround (24-bit/96k) for awhile but I've just come across them so I thought I'd post about them here.

I presume PCM takes too much space up, to use that instead. I'm not sure TrueHD support 96Khz, does or not?

This to me looks like an excellent idea. Take the mass appeal of Blu-ray/HD-DVD, with it's Lossless audio support to allow for a DVD-Audio/SACD type discs. Technically they're closer in comparison to DVD-Audio as limited Video content is also available.

Sadly (for me anyway) so far it all looks to be Classical, but hopefully more other genres will follow. I'll definitely be all over these if that does happen. I miss my small DVD-A/SACD collection. I decided to give up on them when I got a HD Player and sold my Universal DVD Player.

You see that's where it all goes wrong.

HD DVD is 'dead', and Blu-ray Disc has limited appeal, and even that is dominated by PS3 owners keen to use their games players as 'media hubs' for their films...sorry 'movies', and their music collections...

...on mp3.

And this is the basis for a revival in the high-end audiophile music market?

Don't get me wrong, I wish it was. I just sincerely dount it.

You misunderstand me. Compared with DVD-A and SACD this is already mass appeal .

Mass appeal for those into HD.
