Re: Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War (Blu-ray)

Hmmm very tempting. I was in Korea when this was released at the Cinema there...they went mad for it! I've got the Korean Sp Ed DVD digipack thingy already (probably the best DVD packaging in my whole collection), but this is a very good film and probably awesome in HD. What to do, what to do, double dip or not?

One of my fave war films, EVER! Such an intensely moving film, anybody who likes Saving Private Ryan should see this movie. Any chance this may be region free?

I'm pretty sure its Region A, two sites I've seen it for sale on both say A.
I'll confirm once I receive the disc, but its not due to arrive till the start of July with the free standard shipping.

If you can confirm, I'd really appreciate it. Brotherhood is a personal fave of mine, Hollywood just dont make films like this!

Re: Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War (Blu-ray)

wow now this is good news!

and like a previous poster mentioned - the dvd version of this comes in a fantastic package - lets hope they do the same with the blu-ray.

i can imagine good things from the transfer - watched another korean film the other day (lady vengenance ) and the quality was fantastic - IMO one of the best HD transfers.

Re: Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War (Blu-ray)

great film - I have the cheapo single disc dvd edition, but I promised I wouldn't double dip unless the DVD PQ and AQ was awful! Its not awful, but I'm sure noweher near as good as BD.

Re: Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War (Blu-ray)

Mines arrived

Just had a very quick butchers on my monitor and it looks a very professionally put together disc, PQ looks good from what I can tell but will have to get the projector setup tomorrow night to check it out properly on the big screen. Can't wait

I can also confirm that although the case says Region A, the disc is actually region free.

Re: Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War (Blu-ray)

The PQ was pretty good, but slightly soft in places and a general lack of very fine detail which had me suspecting the dreaded DNR had been applied, there was no grain anywhere!!

Its been a few years since I watched it on dvd and I've just sold it so can't compare but I'm sure there should have been grain, especially as its style is influenced by Saving Private Ryan.
