This film is one of my faves too, definitely a must buy.
Does anyone know whether the HD-DVD was any good?

I used to have the HD-DVD and I was rather impressed with it. Definitely not reference material, but a siginificant enough upgrade over the dvd. I shall definitely pick up the Blu-ray when Universal get around to releasing it.

This is one of the problems, Jim.

Lost in Translation was a little film that did quite well. It has a relatively limited audience.

It's been out on SD DVD for a while, and is now usually very cheap. It's been on HD DVD for a while, but was in several sales & offers before HD DVD went belly up, and has been available for peanuts since.

The high def market may now be quite limited for titles in this position until we get a lot more people taking up Blu-ray Disc. Subsequently, with BD pressing space apparently being squeezed, it may be quite a while until a BD appears.

This is one of the main reasons I've kept my old HD DVD kit and discs.

Re: Lost In Translation Blu Ray

shame but I dont like many of the 'big' releases like Hellboy etc. not the sort of films I would bother to watch more than once.
