Re: Firefly coming to Blu Ray!!!

Excellent news! I never bothered with this when it was originally around, but a couple of friends kept raving about it, and a few months ago I borrowed the DVD of Firefly and Serenity. And I'm glad I did, it's one of the best series I've seen in a long time! It's a shame it got canned so early in it's run, but at least they got to tie everything up with the movie.

I'd love to see them release a set with the series and the film .

Re: Firefly coming to Blu Ray!!!

So FOX are going to recreate all the CGI in HD which will cost money or just upscale the SD in which case how will that get labelled on a Blu-ray release

As for Serenity I have no doubt Universal have a Blu-ray on the cards.

Re: Firefly coming to Blu Ray!!!

Great News.

Firefly has already been remastered in HD and is on the Universal HD TV channel in America. They are even showing The Equalizer in HD now! I'd like to see that too!

Alas the original 35mm content was remastered for HD but the CGI was and still is only upscaled as Zoic Studios were only budgeted for NTSC standard broadcasting, Joss even had to fight for the money to produce in widescreen The UHD caps I acquired were eventually deleted because they were appalling quality due to over compression

It would be nice to think FOX would spend a few million on redoing the CGI but that ain't going to happen and Universal only have broadcast rights of whatever FOX license them for.

Re: Firefly coming to Blu Ray!!!

Very good news - Firefly was a brilliant TV series and I will certainly double dip on this title. Hopefully the fact the Fox are preparing this title means that they are also preparing other TV shows for release on Blu-ray.

Re: Firefly coming to Blu Ray!!!

Brilliant news. I can't wait. I have the HD versions from US TV on my network and still like to watch them now and again. If they can come up with some good bonus material, then it'll be worth getting even more.

Typical US series that was loved by all who watched it, but still got canned.

Re: Firefly coming to Blu Ray!!!

I shouldn't because FOX doesn't deserve any more money from me without investing it back but you know I'm going too
