What films will SUFFER from a HD transfer?

I am a big fan of Jet Li and have all of his films. In quite a lot of his films he uses wire-stunts to enhance the action. However, when the films came out in the UK and US on DVD with better transfers, the wires were easily visible above the actors, and kind of spoiled it (they didn't have the technology or money to remove them like they do now). I don't think I'll bother getting his earlier films on BD because of the same reason- the wires will be even more visible than on DVD.
Are there any other films you guys can think of that will actually be at a disadvantage with a sharper HD transfer?

Pron films (and actresses) probably won't come across that flattering in high def either!

Re: What films will SUFFER from a HD transfer?

I think "stop go" animation movies, eg wallace and gromit don't turn out well.
Watched the curse of the wererabbit on the HD channel and it seemed to make the movie worse.

Damn. I would have thought those would look quite good in HD- the DVD's (Chicken Run, Wererabbit) despite the lack of resolution look really good. May I ask how you thought it looked worse?

The problem with these films is that the wires are visible by their absence. Regardless of the visibility of the wires the motion of the actors is well wrong.

Cheers

Just my opinion of course but I thought that the sharper picture just highlighted the fact that the animation isn't as smooth as it could be using CGI.

The lack of resolution (again just opinion) seems to smooth things out more.

Paul.

Note. In real life girls are in a higher resolution than 1080p.

Thanks for your opinion. It will be interesting to see if reviews say the same about these films when released on BD.

EXACTLY and the reason why mags use airbrushing and hd movies will no doubt have to do the same.
