Thanks: Gave 1,210, Got 686 | Warner Announces V for Vendetta for Blu-ray
Warner Home Video has announced that they will release the highly anticipated Sci-Fi thriller 'V for Vendetta' for Blu-ray on May 20th. Video will be presented as 2.40:1 1080p VC-1 with 5.1 Dolby Digital audio track (no TrueHD track has been announced at this time, but is expected). While no extras have been announced at this time, you can expect that all the extras from the previous HD DVD release will fit easily on the BD-50.
This film was originally released on HD DVD, but was held back from Blu-ray release due to the lack of picture-in-picture support. Once support for PIP (BonusView) content was made mandatory, fans have been waiting eagerly for Warner to release those titles they initially held back. With this release of 'V for Vendetta', Warner is making good on their promise to bring all of their HD DVD exclusive titles to the Blu-ray format.
Extras on the HD DVD include the In Movie Experience (IME) PIP commentary, four featurettes ("Designing the Near Future", "Remember, Remember: The Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot", "England Prevails: V for Vendetta and the New Wave of Comics", and "Freedom! Forever!: Making of V for Vendetta"), the Saturday Night Live digital short, Cat Power montage, and theatrical trailers.

Great news -
One of my favourite films from recent years so I'll be a happy man when this comes out
Fingers crossed the retail price is sensible.

The DVD version is top quality, with great surround sound. A great movie... hard to justify replacing.

I don't see what all the fuss is about with the "Highly anticipated sci-fi thriller" comes to Blu-ray
Although it wasn't a bad film,i wouldn't say it was anything to write home about.
Personally it's purely rental material at best.......each to their own i suppose.
Just my tuppence worth.

The HD-DVD looks and sounds stunning, presumably the Blu-Ray will be the same. Along with Children Of Men, this is one of my favourite films of recent years.

Just my tuppence worth. | A superb film and one of my most re-watched of the last 12 months or so. Refreshing to see a Science Fiction film for grown ups for a change.

Not enough action. | After watching The Matrix Reloaded I was expecting more action from this, but since then, action movies have been subdued, and V For Vendetta stands out from many recent movies. Besides which I never had 5.1 surround for my old quote.. and the surround is one of the best examples that I have tried so far.

Look at how much I have spent for V
1) $36 - IMAX
2) $4 - SD DVD (Rental)
2) $20 - HD DVD (Bought)
4) $15 - HD DVD (Sold after Warner's announcement)
5) $19.95 - Blu-ray (On pre-order)
How many times I have watched V ? Just 11 times.
