August Rush. Refreshing, different, see the ending coming a mile off. Warm, fuzzy feeling, tear jerker. Delightful

For me it has been Blood Diamond, and Shooter, both rented on BD but purchased on HDDVD as they are currently cheaper. I thoroughly enjoyed them both
Not quite sticking to the thread title but a revalation has been Dune on HDVD, it is a bit of a favourite of mine as i have loved it since the first time i watched it on TV about 18 years ago, watching it in High def was like watching a different movie, it is simply amazing and makes you totally appreciate the sets etc, there is just so much detail that i have totally missed before

I bought many a title, but this is my No. 1 surprise hit:
Stranger than Fiction.
I must say Happy Feet, Ratatouille, Dave Matthews and several more have ended up often in my HD-player as well. Those are more used as demo material though.

The Lookout for me - got it on Reg A BD earlier this year, mainly because of the director (he wrote Out of Sight) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Great little film, with some great performances and storyline (think Memento crossed with Brick, expect with language you can understand ).
Also, I really liked Across the Universe. I'm not the worlds biggest Beatles fan, but seeing some of their tunes in the context of the film's narrative really affected me. So this came out of nowhere, whereas The Lookout was one I knew I'd probably like.
