Yippee my region A Point Break has shipped yesterday from Movietyme, can't wait to watch it, hope its a decent Fox release and they do justice both on the transfer and HD soundtrack on this cult classic!

Re: Point Break US Blu Ray in July

Just got mine today and I'm afraid to say I'm very disappointed with the video transfer.

The picture is very grainy and doesn't have any of the hi-def sharpness and detail that I have seen on some of my other Blu-rays.

It looks like no effort has been made the clean up the video and it probably doesn't look much better than upscaled SD DVD.

I will still keep it as it is one of my favourite films, but unfortunately it has not lived up to expectations video wise.

Re: Point Break US Blu Ray in July

Not heard the soundtrack properly yet as my projector is in for repair and so I moved the PS3 downstairs and connected it to my plasma and an old av amp.

As soon as the projector comes back I'll let you know, but you'll probably have your own copy by then.

Re: Point Break US Blu Ray in July

well just finished watching it and agree with Dogma 21 in that it was a pretty poor picture, seems to be a lot of noise in certain scenes, one that stands out is one with Keanu and Lori lying on a bed,you can see a lot of noise in the dark parts of the picture, I can live with grain on High-Def, but this is no great improvement picture wise over the DVD version. the soundtrack is another matter very happy with that good use of the surrounds and LFE.

All in all I'm happy that Point Break made it to Blu-Ray, I just wished that Fox had minted a fresh Hi-def master print.

Re: Point Break US Blu Ray in July

I'm glad someone agrees with Romero as I felt the review on Highdefdigest over rated the video.

However having watched some of it again on my projector ( I still haven't watched the whole film yet), my opinion has improved mainly due to watching it on a big screen.

I still feel the picture quality is soft, lack sharpness and detail compared to some of the best Blu-rays I own and there is a grain and white specks.
