Embarrassingly as a fan of war movies, I've never seen this one.
I've just seen the review of the US release on another website though and PQ wise it looks superb.
It's listed on Amazon's UK site but with no release date. I just hope we get the same transfer for the UK version as the US one is unfortunately distributed by Fox and so will no doubt be region locked.
Here's a link to some example pics from the review (click on each one to see a larger version and fully do it justice). When you view these bear in mind this was a movie shot in 1970; Amazing Screenshots link
Here's a couple of smaller previews - but please do click the link above;
I'll be buying it !!!

Thanks for the screenshots link, looks like they've done a tremendous job, I can't wait now

£15.99 delivered so at least a couple of quid cheaper than the usual US sites, plus should hopefully arrive sooner

All sites are reporting it as region locked, plus its a Fox release and they lock all their titles.

Thanks: Gave 277, Got 421 | My 2 cents on Patton The Good
Terrific presentation of a 38 year old catalog title. An excellent cinematic and film like presentation.
Natural color palette and very good color saturation
Interior sequences offer tremendous details and takes full advantage of the lighting
Very good texture detailing
Some scenes exhibited reference black levels The Bad
Handful of outdoor shots looked flat probably due to photography's limitations or due to source elements
Flesh tones looked slightly uneven on certain characters except Patton
Resolution increase wasn't quite apparent in few scenes
Minor contrast fluctuations noticeable in certain scenes The Ugly
Nothing to do with the PQ
DNR
Francis Ford Coppola introduction was in 480p
Intermission Music at 1 hr 40 min mark that lasts for about 2 mins
Hanging Mic wire in one shot http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3040/...008b07a6_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3259/...011a28b6_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3166/...35d481ea_o.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2014/...00901f9b_o.jpg
Will be listing this one for sale in the classifieds section soon.

just read that the 2nd disc is a DVD. Does anyone know if this is region coded too? I have a Japanese PS3 and so can play the Region A bluray, but it won't play the DVD if its coded to R1

This release gets slated for having all high frequency detail stripped away from,it may look clean to some, but it looks unnatural, even the renowned Robert A Harris agrees, and he knows what he's talking about. http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htf/...n-blu-ray.html

Mine still hasn't arrived yet but this is disappointing news.
Why on earth did they feel the need to apply DNR???!
