El orfanato (The Orphanage) Blu-ray

The US disc comes out on the 22nd April, however as the US version is New Line and it therefore may be locked so I was thinking of getting the spanish blu-ray which is out on the 1st of April and includes english subtitles. I am however wondering how ppl think the spanish pq will hold up against the US (having never seen a spanish blu ray)? I believe this is a warner release in spain.

Details of the spanish release can be found here:

Re: El orfanato (The Orphanage) Blu-ray

I go to Madrid once every 6 months or so. (HALA MADRID) Anyhow I will pick up at least ten Blu-rays due to them being cheaper over there I find no diference in picture quality between my UK Blu-rays and my spanish Blu-rays. I hope this helps.

It's a Warner release in Spain, so I wouldn't worry about picture quality. I would worry about the price though - looks steep!

yip is a tad expensive but will be so worth it (and will skip enchanted this month to balance out the books ). New Line did a really good job with Pans Lab however as this has just hit the cinema here I'm pretty sure it will be locked.

Note to anyone importing the spanish verison, despite the link I posted earlier saying it had english subs a guy in the DVDsupplier section said he was told it didnt so I will email dvdgo on the 1st to ask if they can check.

The DVD has English subs so I would be amazed if the BD didn't.

Well its cheaper than over here in Eire. Sunshine Blu = 50 euro, Crow Blu = 42 Euroand 28 weeks later blu = 45 euro. Bought sunshine in spain for 25 euro.

fingers crossed it does, but will email dvdgo to confirm. I am pretty jealous that the DVD has a limited edition version in a metallic case but as long as the blu has english subs I'll be happy!

Now processing at Movietyme. Bit of a gamble this one as the chances are it will be locked.

Incidentally, does anyone have a link to the thread detailing the 'workaround' for some of the other New Line titles please?

I decided I could hang on a couple of weeks to see if its locked (i reckon it will be). Here is the link (I had forgotten about the NL hack):

I've got a region A(region locked)blu ray film to work on my UK PS3

A prudent thing to do. I suppose if it is locked and the hack doesn't work, there'll be no shortage of takers on here or the 'bay. Still, I'll give it a go. Thanks for the link!

Agreed, but still reckon I will get it before movietyme as if it isnt locked as I'll just pop down to DVDlimited (who usually get things a bit early) and pick it up. If it is locked (which I'm pretty certain it will be given its still in the cinema) then I'll order it from spain.

figured as much, looks like I'm going to be spending £30 to get it from spain then

There is a review of the spanish blu-ray here:
http://www.zonadvd.com/modules.php?n...content&id=797

The review is in spanish but there are site translators out there (e.g. babefish).

It says that in spite of the fact it is on a 25gb disc (the US version is on a 50gb) it borders of being reference standard (it has a few screenshots too).

I've just ordered this from fnac.es. About 4 euros less that DVDGO. Hope it gets here ok!
