HD dvd release dates

Hi,
Does anyone share my confusion about the release dates of HD dvd's? I could have bought an SD DVD of "Atonement" in Tesco last week for £9.00, but I have to wait until the 10th. March to get it on HD DVD. What's the logic behind that? I thought there was a format war going on here, who benefits from the delay?

Re: HD dvd release dates

I think under normal circumstances they would have been released together next month but they needed to get the DVD out before Valentines.

Re: HD dvd release dates

On the surface and to those as yet pulled into the HD web it just makes the HD release look second rate, far more expensive and delayed. It would be nice to think that HD DVD owners would wait and they probably will but it's not a sensible marketing approach to tempt new customers into the format but do I really need to go on...
